We have a electrical power line running through our property. There are 4 easement or right of way drawn up on the property starting in the 1920's. In three of the four easements it clearly states that the electrical company shall pay for any crop damage. We are a registered tree farm in Michigan and trees are our crops. Over the last 18 years we have planted over 17,000. We have produced hardwood flooring and rough sawn logs for sale in addition to having 2 timber sales. The electric company states that trees are not crops and will not pay for the ones destroyed!! My question is: Are trees considered crops regardless if they are planted or naturally sprouted?
