Planting Baldcypress in/around Pond (IL)

Hi, I'm looking to block a sizable view bordering my property, but have limited space to plant trees back there due to 1/2 acre pond. Is planting trees such as bald cypress in the pond itself an option up here in northern IL? I know their seedlings won't germinate in standing water, so was thinking of dropping a couple young trees with root ball and all right in the pond. And second question, would they survive living in a frozen pond in winters? They're listed as a tree for this grow zone, but I could find no info if that includes them growing in standing water in zone 5.

Hi Gene: Baldcypress does well across Illinois. According to a publication from the University of Florida, the planting of baldcypress seedlings in shallow water is okay, provided the seedlings are not completely submerged. Source: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fr152 I've personally witnessed baldcypress trees growing along frozen ponds here in central Illinois, so I suspect they would do just fine up in northern Illinois.
