I am looking for Freedom Honeysuckle plants to plant as a windbreak in my timber. Is there a state nursery or somewhere that these are available for sale?

Hi Allen:

Please do not plant Freedom Honeysuckle (Lonicera x Freedom) here in Illinois because it is EXTREMELY invasive and it is a state designated Exotic weed species.

More importantly, it is against the law here in Illinois:

Illinois Exotic Weed Act

"It shall be unlawful for any person, corporation, political subdivision, agency or department of the State to buy, sell, offer for sale, distribute or plant seeds, plants or plant parts of exotic weeds without a permit issued by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources."

Please choose a native, non-invasive shrub species instead: dogwood, viburnum, hazelnut, serviceberry, plum, etc.
