Hi - I would like to start a black walnut agroforestry and like to know more details about it. I have few questions about it. Can black walnut agroforestry be done in Illinois?Which region in Illinois support it?What soil tests and preliminary conditions to be checked before starting black walnut plantation?Is there a minimum acres needed to plant black walnut?How long will it take to yeild walnuts once planted? Can black walnut be planted in with other timers woods or does it require a clean/flat land to start the planting? How long does it take to be able to sell the timber of black walnut? Is there an option to visit any existing plantation and talk to the black walnut producers? Let me know if i can meet you in person and get to opinion and feedback on starting black walnut agroforestry.

Probably the easiest way to answer all your questions is to work directly with an Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources district forester or a local professional consulting forester.
