A week ago I had two Locust trees removed and stump was grinder. I am now finding a small forest of suckers. They have tried to removed as many roots as possible. How do I kill the suckers? I want to replace the lawn and plant a maple but cannot do it with all of these suckers coming back up.

Hi Tammy:

Your best bet at this point is likely a broadleaf-specific foliar herbicide since you no longer have access to the parent tree / stem. Due to California's varied laws about pesticides, I would strongly encourage you to contact Cal Extension Forestry for an herbicide recommendation:

Best of luck!
