Fallen Walnut Tree (NJ)

Sadly our beautiful black walnut tree was a casualty of the recent tropical storm. It grew on an eroded embankment. The tree stood 50 tall, and is now making our yard impassable. I was advised that the wood is prized by furniture builders. Can you offer advice on where to begin? I would hate to see it used as firewood. I also, plan on replacing the tree.
