My autumn blaze is starting to turn red already. It’s early August. It’s significantly more at the top of the tree than elsewhere. I thinks this is much earlier than years past. It’s 15 years old. Thanks for any advice

Hi Ann:

Premature or early fall leaf color may be a sign of stress; or, the tree itself may have come from a nursery or provenance with a more northern latitude. Potential stressors include periods of drought or infrequent precipitation and / or mechanical damage to the stem or roots.
