Honeylocust Tree Dropping Little Pods

Hello. We have two very large honey locust trees on our lot. They are kind of messy trees especially in the fall. Right now we are a few days away from mid June and the trees are dropping these tiny little pods and silty mixture that is within a couple of days filling the yard, driveway, and deck. We desperately need to clean and stain our deck and I am afraid that this tree is just going to keep dropping this forever. Does anyone know what these little pods and debris is and how long this is going to last? We obviously need a window to operate where the tree isn’t constantly dropping this or we cannot stain anything. Thank you so very much for any direction you might give. I really don’t know anything about trees.

Hi Taylor:

I would encourage you to reach out to your local Extension office for assistance regarding this question. Furthermore, providing them with images of the "tiny little pods" and the silty mixture (possibly honeydew from aphids/scales) will be extremely helpful.

Best of luck!
