I just very recently discovered that my mature White Oak tree has the Longhorn Beetle Bore. At least the Longhorn Beetle species for the White Oak. I have examined the grub on the outside of the tree. I realize that it might have been in the tree for awhile but I think this is a recent event. The entry hole is a foot from the base of the tree and the sap has just started to run a couple of days ago. My issue is that I am having a hard time finding a professional in my area that will evaluate and treat the tree. Do you have any recommendations in my area of Wilmington/Grundy county. I live close to the DesPlains Conservation Area at Blodgett and River Road just west of I55.

Try reaching out to your local IDNR district forester, Mr. Jim Tresouthick (jim.tresouthick@illinois.gov). He is based out of the Wilmington IDNR office and is also a former urban forester so he'll know the names of some local certified arborists who will be able to assist you.
