Oak Tree Replanting (IL)

Hello - we obtained a small oak tree from our city and have been keeping it in a somewhat large pot. During the winter we place it in the garage, and bring it back outside when the night weather is above freezing.

We have had it for about 3 years and it is 13 inches tall, with plenty of big, healthy leaves.

We were wondering if we should put it in a larger container, and when we should transplant it into the garden.

My thanks in advance, Norma Corona

Hi Norma:

I think you're long overdue to plant this "potted" oak tree into a permanent environment; though, I commend you for your care and treatment of this seedling.

Find a suitable "growing" spot on your property to plant this oak seedling within the next couple weeks!

Best of luck!
