I to have a female ginko tree producing fruit but last year 2021 there was no fruit, this year I have tiny green ball (we call them puke balls) but they haven’t turned orange just falling off the tree in the size of a cherry tomatoe. I was hoping it was in menopause. Lol. We’ve been here almost 30 years.it was nice not cleaning up the mess last year. Why the change?

Hi Karen:

The most likely "culprit" is the weather (i.e., drought). My guess is that lack of "growing season" precipitation in your area had a significant impact on the fruiting and cone production (i.e., less than normal) of trees in your general area.

Yes, other more "localized" factors could come into play...(spring frosts, excessive spring rains, etc.), but I wouldn't know those details specific to your geographic area.

Best of luck!
