I have an American elm tree that is 4inchDBH and about 16’ tall. Can I cut the tree down at ground level and have the tree resprout?

American elm will sprout from the stump after being cut down. It will generally send up multiple sprouts at the same time. If you want the sprout to grow into a tree, after one growing season of sprouts, choose the sprout with the best form and potential and trim the remaining ones off.
