When is a good date range for planning to prune black walnut trees in the Homer / Sidney, Illinois area?

As a rule of thumb, it is generally recommended to prune your trees during the dormant season (January to early March). Adapting this pruning schedule will minimize epicormic branching, heavy sap flow, and complications from pests and pathogens.
