Forest Cover Maps of USA

Is there any photograph that would show the plant and tree layers in a forest. My son is looking for information for a Cub Scout project. Also, is there a USA map picture available which shows where the forests are located?

Linda, This USDA Forest Service link should supply you with the necessary US forest distribution map you are looking for http://www.fia.fs.fed.us/library/maps/ Regarding a photograph of plant and tree layers in a forest, I would simply GOOGLE "forest layers" using the internet. Hope this helped!
