Killing Honeylocust Root Sprouts

[Post a Follow Up] [Post to this category]

Due to storm damage I cut down my locust tree (hybrid from Henry Field catalog-no thorns) which was about 30 years old. The stump was removed. Since the roots remained, new growth is popping up all along the root system which is near the surface. How can I kill off the roots. Pulling up each little shoot is not working.

Greetings Bill,

Try using an herbicide called Pathway (active ingredient: picloram) or 2,4-D. This herbicide will kill the root sprouts without killing any grass.

Follow all herbicide labels and directions!
