Insect Boring into E. White Pine Trees (IL)

We have what looks like very small asian beetles boring into our white pine bark. They first appeared last fall in the cracks of the bark and are now boring into the bark and the sap is running down the tree. These are about 1/2 the size of the asian beetles we have in the fall. They are red and spotted like a lady bug. Please advise. These are not the normal pine bettles.

Please take several high-resolution photos of the insects and the associated damage on the trees. Take those pictures, or send them, to your local Extension office for identification purposes.

Alternatively, please use University of Illinois Extension's Distance Diagnostics website:

Best of luck!
