No Acorns on Oak Tree this Year (MI)

[Post a Follow Up] [Post to this category]
Our neighbor, with my approval, had several major limbs removed from our 100-foot oak tree that is near the property line in February. Could that cause the tree to not produce acorns this summer?

Hi Lynne:

It is highly unlikely that the pruning of those branches had anything to do with the lack of acorn production on this tree this year. It is not uncommon for individual trees to occasionally experience poor acorn crops. Poor acorn crops can be genetic, cyclical, or the result of unusual weather patterns such as spring frost events, excessively wet spring, drought, etc.

Best of luck!
