Moving Rose of Sharon

We have several Rose of Sharon that are about 6 ft tall (more tall than bushy) right up against the house. I would like to move them to another location away from the house. What do I need to do to successfully transplant them. Also, what do I need to do to make them more bushy.

Thanks Cindy

Hi,

Rose of sharon are fairly easy to move with great success. this spring just dig the plant up with as large a root ball as you can comfortably move. For a 6 foot plant 12 to 18" is usually good. Move the plant water it in well and it should be fine. to get the plant to bush out after moving cut back the taller stems to encourage branching.
