Pruning Holly Bushes

We have two holly bushes in the front yard. They were planted about 7 years ago and have never been pruned. They are now very overgrown and would like to trim. Do we trim in the fall or spring? and how?

Thanks

Hi,

You cold do some pruning in the fall if the plants are dormant so that you don't get any new growth started that may get winter injured. If not then spring just after new growth starts is a good time also and maybe a little better.
