When the weather in your area has a chance of producing a tornado, a Tornado Watch is issued by the National Weather Service. This means that the weather is favorable for tornado development, and people should listen to weather reports on the radio or TV to keep updated.

A Tornado Warning is issued when a tornado is seen by a person or by weather radar. When a warning is issued, people need to take immediate shelter if they are in the path of the tornado.
