When does crabgrass seed become mature or viable? When the seed heads first appear how soon should they be mowed off? Will mowing them into the lawn kill them are do they need to be bagged. I guess the main thing I would like to know is how long does it take the seeds to mature from flowering to viabe seed?

That can vary with temperature, moisture and whick crabgrass is growing in your yard. If you keep them mowed so the seed head does not turn purple or brown, then the seeds will not be viable and able to grow the next year.. Some crabgrass seed can be viable in the soil for years. Some seed may blow in. Some seed may be carried in by animals & by man.
