I took a small limb from my 9 foot tree, an Acer x freemanii which is a cross between a silver maple and red maple, and planted it for fun. It's growing ! Will it grow to be the same tree as the cross, or revert to either a silver or red maple? Thanks.

The genetics in your small limb contain the DNA from both parents and would be the Acer x freemanii

Your limb was likely very young and the cells on the cut end were able to differenciate and some of the cells became "root cells" as the callus layer formed.
