I have ant mounds popping up in various places in my lawn.

How and when is the best approach for eliminating them?

Ants are very much a part of our enviornment and are hard to eliminate from our yard. Overall ants are considered beneficial insects. Consider treating only those large mounds that are damaging the turf. There are several compounds from the Bayer Company, Spectracide, Ortho, Hi Yield to mention a few. The chemical name to look for on the container include: permethrin, cyfluthrin and lambda-cyhalorhrin. Please follow the label directions carefully.
