My 10 tuber rose plants bloomed beautifully and fragrantly three years ago. Last year only 4 of 10 flowered. I split the tubers at the end of season, dusted them and kept them in the cool but not cold cellar. This year I have about 40-50 healthy looking plants growing with only one flowering, and a poor example at that. Any reason for this? What should I do - especially since these are my wife and my favorite aromatic bloomer! Thanks, Norm

Dear Norm:

Good to hear you were sucessful with your divisions. I suspect that your new tuber roses will need to grow another year to increase tuber size before they return to the level of bloom you are expecting. Right now the tubers are focusing all the energy on increasing tuber size. Be sure to provide adequate food and water during the growing season. Good Luck!
