Tomato varieties come with different maturity, some short for the early spring crop, others considered main season. Sounds like you have a main season variety that will need more time. Tomatoes planted in anything but day long full sun will also take longer to produce and ripen. There are tomatoes that have ripened colors besides red, but if you purshased them at a mainstream garden center or similar establishment, I am pretty sure yours should be red when ripe.
