Green tomatoes

Our tomato plants have many large green tomatoes, but they seem to refuse to ripen. Planted in mid June. Do not know what variety of tomatoes they are, but they are completely green. Is there a species that never turns red?

Tomato varieties come with different maturity, some short for the early spring crop, others considered main season. Sounds like you have a main season variety that will need more time. Tomatoes planted in anything but day long full sun will also take longer to produce and ripen. There are tomatoes that have ripened colors besides red, but if you purshased them at a mainstream garden center or similar establishment, I am pretty sure yours should be red when ripe. Hope for a good long warm fall and you will get your toms!
