I have quite a large plant given to me and have it outside in the summer. I am wondering what kind of light and watering it will want when I take it in the house?

Your Philodendron will like partial shade, soil that is kept evenly moist, but not soggy and likes temperatures similiar to us, 65-75 degrees. East or West Window or exposure should work, maybe even a southern window for the winter. You should begin to transition the plant into the house as soon as possible and for sure before the furnace starts running. Place it in a more shaded location than it is currently in, start watering it less often. The cooler nights will also help. This will slow the plant down and will be more tolerant of lower light levels in your home. You can expect a lower, older leaf or two to yellow and come off as part of the acclimation. If you are lucky enough and have great light, you may not lose a single leaf.

Good Luck, Richard
