The front lawn slopes toward the house. Water collects at the bottom of the slope. Can you suggest something that could be planted in this area. We have a French drain but the water is still collecting. Thank you

Dear Rhea: Before planting any plants, You should make sure your French Drain is working properly. It is common for water to stand temporarily, but quickly drain away, leaving the soil and creating air spaces again. Ornamental plants do not grow well or survive in water logged soils. You could, at the locations you are interested in planting, berm or raise the soil. This will get the plants out of the water logged soil. Lastly, you can contact your local Bibb County Extension office for a more local solution to your drainage and plant question. Good Luck!
