i recently moved to villa park. what are the chances of survival for planting cuttings at this time of year. i want to plant burning bush, lilac, and privet.

Hello Nick, If you have well rooted cuttings, the chances of survival are really good. Plant them as soon as possible, water well and later when it is colder (Mid November) plan on mulching them so the soil stays cold and they stay dormant. This will also help keep them from heaving out of the ground since they will not have had a chance to establish themselves in their new locations. You may also want to protect them from rabbits as young plants are a great food source for wildlife. Enjoy your new home and good luck with your plants. Sincerely, Richard Hentschel
