Should Russian Sage be cut down for the winter?

Hello Bonnie, Yes, most gardeners will cut down their Russian Sage to a more suitable height for the winter months. 4-6 inches is common. If you like the winter look of your sage coming up through the snow, you can leave it, just plan on pruning it down to a point where the stems are alive next spring.
