I have a picture of a red/orange what could be a mushroom. It was growing under a Maple Tree. It lasted just one day. I was lloking for help to identify what it really is. Is there a way I casn send you a picture of it?

Dear Ron:

Thank you for sending the image directly. You have along with many home owners a mushroom with the common name of Elegant Stinkhorn or Mutinus elegans if you want the scientific name.

I appears after we have had lot rain growing out of or from mulched landscape beds mostly, but can be found in other places. The part you see is the reproductive structure which only last a day or two normally. You can use the internet and search using the scientific name and find additional information.

Sincerely, Richard Hentschel
