Client called in wanting to know if the leaves on a tomato plant can have the same affect as poison ivy?

Hello Diana:

I am not aware that tomato foliage can cause a symptom similar to Poison Ivy. the two have different a different botanical genus. It is possible that Poison Ivy can be growing right along with the tomato plants and the homeowner could be coming in contact with it. If a sensitivity already exists, your contact should see a dermitologist to confirm the dermititis is from Poison Ivy.
