when to pull sunflowers

The squirrels and birds ate all the sunflower seeds. When should I pull the plant? Does it give any nutrients to the soil or just take them?

You can enjoy the plants themselves as long as you like. Sunflowers do not return nutrients to the soil unless you would be able to cut/chop them up and turn them into the garden soil when you have finished enjoying the foliage.
