I have 300 zinnias that need to be replaced due to rain rotting them. What can I plant from seed direct into the ground that will come up fast , give strong display of color for a long time?

Sorry to hear of your problems with the zinnias. We are really too close to cold fall weather to be able to grow flowers from seed and have them flower before frosts kill them.

Transplants would be about your only alternative. You may be able to find surplus annuals or fresh fall transplants to use in this space.
