I had my tree pruned this year and I had more walnuts that the previous 30 years I've lived here. This was not it lst pruning. Why so many?

More likly than pruning, was the 2012 growing season. Many plants as a stress mechanism, generated lots of flower buds that produced in your case walnuts. Producing that many walnuts takes a great deal of energy, so you may want to make sure you water this tree well before it goes dormant and consider feeding next spring if that is appropriate.
