My Montmorency Cherry tree had flowers this spring, but only one cherry matured. There were maybe 3-4 others this spring, but they never turned red and just disappeared. Last year we had a great crop of cherries and were looking forward to even more this year. This, and all my trees and shrubs, get professionally fertilized each fall. What happened? Thank you for looking into this matter.

Poor pollination and fruit set can be due to many things. Sour cherry is self-fruitful so another tree is not an issue. If normal flowering occurred, it is possible that frost damaged the blooms. Cherries fall about mid-range in tolerance to cold. There is nothing to do at this time. Hopefully next year will bring a normal crop.
