I have my first China Doll, about 19" tall. I have a 4 gal. crock used for pickling, with no drain hole, to replant it. I understand, from reading previous responses, that this plant needs the drainage. Do you have a suggestion where to have this type of container drilled.

Most crock bottoms are high in the center and taper outwards towards the walls. You would want to create drainage holes there so water would not be ale to accumulate.

To my knowledge, these are earthenware and could be drilled using a ceramic bit in a small homeowner sized portable drill. Several small holes function just as well as one larger one and more appropriately given a crock.
