turning black

after last winter I noticed the needles fell of my weeping atlas..it was covered in frozen snow and ice during the extremely harsh winter..I also noticed that branches turned black..so this spring I fertilized and many need needles replaced the died loses but the black on some parts still remeined..do I need to do something? was this from frost damage?

Like so many needle evergreens here in the Midwest, I am comfortable with saying that the damage you are seeing is weather related. the discolored bark is likely to remain. I am glad to know you did have needle regrowth. If there are twigs or branches are completely dead, you can remove them without harm. Continue to feed and water the tree to assist in recovery
