Do leaves turn color first at bottom or top of tree?

Fall tree color is often the response of the tree to weather conditions. Southern or western exposures will often begin to turn before the north or eastern sides of the tree. They get more sunlight. Cooler nights and warmer days also trigger the change. Sections of or the tops of trees will often color first.
