Does UofI Extension have a list of Illinois invasive plant species?

The lists that I am aware of come from the Illinois Department of Agriluture, Chicago Botanic Garden and Morton Arboretum. The one from the IDA is a regulatiory list, naming specific plants that are currently illegal to sell in Illinois. The other lists are listings of plants that while not illegal, have known characteristics that make them potentially invasive. You can also read much more on the Midwest Invasives Plant network website.

I am also interested in a list of "weeds" but would also like to know if there is something with pictures on the website? I have a weed that looks like a dandelion, only redish in the center and the root system grows horizontally underground and it is thick and white. It is all over my yard almost as bad as the creeping Charlie...

Extension has a website http://extension.illinois.edu/lawntalk/weeds/ called lawn talk that should help you identify weeds found in the lawn. you could also take a sample to you most local Extension Office and Master Gardeners can investigate and help you determine the weed you have. Offices can be found at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/state/findoffice.cfm
