How can I start the following trees and woody shrub from cuttings? Or, is there another way to take a "start" from the parent plant? Weeping beech, oriental persimmon, and contorted hazel.

Greetings, Beech is most often grown from seed if available. Not easy to root from cuttings, but suggestions are taken in mid to late July have had some success. Common Persimmon is also done from seed. Seed should be removed from the fruit and allowed to dry. both beech and persimmon should be fall sown. Contorted filberts are often found in the trade as grafted or budded with the problem of root suckers needing regular attention. Propagation literature suggests from seed or winter cuttings of young wood. success rate is low and why budding or grafting is common. Softwood cuttings was also mentioned.
