What are common names for phenoxy compounds used to control wild strawberry in lawns?

Phenoxy compounds can be found in many products. Look for 2,4-D in the active ingredient section of the label. products that contain 2,4-d, MCPP and Dicamba in combination can also be used. While wild strawberry may not be listed on the label itself, it is a broadleaf weed similar to those that will be managed. Treatments are best done when the weed is actively growing. Late summer treatments may give more complete control as the plants are naturally moving reserves into the root system. Early spring applications may mean a second treatment. Consider when the plant has completely leafed out and or is also flowering as the food reserves will be lower.
