Starting Fruit Trees From Cuttings

Hi There, My Wife and I recently bought some land with fruit trees on it. Specifically, We have Apple, Crab Apple, Pear, Peach and Cherry trees. We would like any information available about how to start these types of trees from cuttings. The trees have been neglected for the last several years, and we are trying to save them via proper pruning. If that does not seem possible, we are hoping to take cuttings and start replacements for the ones in the worst condition. We would greatly appreciate any information you could provide that might help us. Thanks!

Fruit tree cuttings are often taken as what is known as a softwood cutting. the new growth has matured a bit, but before it becomes woody. the tissues are more able to create the needed callus cells that then generate the new roots at the base of the cutting. Best way is to take a few each cuttings each over a period of days/weeks to ensure success. Suggest May through early June. these dates are for apples and crabapples. Pears and Cherry would be similar. Peaches can be rooted from hardwood or softwood cuttings.
