natural privacy fence between houses

Hi I want to plant a natural privacy fence between the houses . I was looking at arbor vite , black hill , norwegian spruce I heard Arbor vite in Indiana climate do not last long with browning and requiring frequent changing in 1 year. do you have any suggestions? Max

If you have room, any of the spruce will be a good choice. Arborvitae can last many years if established well. They take more than one season to recover and need to be taken care of until then. Figure on up to three years. Arborvitae are much more narrow and take up less space as they mature.
