What is a good tree to plant in in a small yard. Full sun and faces the west. Looking for something other than a crab apple. Do not want large fruit or seed pods. 20 feet in height is the max.

Extension has a good site that you can plug in your desired traits and it will provide you a list of possible trees.

smaller trees that come to mind would be a tree lilac, one of the many service berries (amelanchier), Perhaps a fringe tree if it is large enough.
