We have a 5-6 year old Autumn Blaze Maple that has severe frost cracks and evidence of insect holes (almost like very small rectangular shape) and worm-like boring marks. How can we treat the tree to save it? The tree has leaves and looks fairly good, but one large branch section appears dead.

There are systemic insecticide products that could be used. Preventing further damage from the frost cracks is vital as well. protect the trunk from direct winter sunlight by wrapping the trunk late in the season after the tree has gone dormant. Clean up the wounds to encourage callus tissue.
