I have 13 Arborvitae about 8 years old that have been healthy. I notice this week 2 have large sections turning brown. I have tried to see if there is sign of rodents digging near the roots but have not seen any so far. Does it help to save the tree if I trim out brown stuff?

if the branches are completely dead, removal back to a growing point or green tissue is appropriate. Dead branches will not come back to life. Removing the branch allows sunlight to the interior and can generate new growth. Check with your local Extension Office for a more focused local response.
