Worth Trying?

Hi, We would like to plant some privacy arborvitae in our backyard, which is on the north side and they would be in mostly shade from several large trees. Is this worth trying or is the shade a deal-breaker? Thanks.

Arborvitae have some tolerance for light shade, but will grow slower, be more loose and open as a result and only more so as the amount of shade increases. If winter privacy is not an issue, consider shade tolerant shrubs or a mixture of both with the evergreens located in key spots for year round privacy

Thank you! We are trying to get some privacy from a neighbor's treehouse, so we were looking for tall trees, but not large, wide evergreen types.
