What do my raspberries need?

Hello,

I have everbearing red raspberries that I had to mow down in the spring because of cane blight and cane borers. Now the new canes are growing, but they don't seem healthy. The newer leaves near the top of the canes look deep green and healthier, but the leaves near the bottom of the stalks look line green, with the veins standing out in darker green and some rust coloration on them. I fertilized the patch with 10-10-10 fertilizer a few weeks ago. Any help is appreciated, and I have pictures if needed!

If it's a few leaves, it may not be serious. It sounds very much like iron chlorosis which can be caused by a variety of things, but usually because the soil pH is too high. One approach would be to apply a chelated iron fertilizer. This would be faster than applying sulfur to the soil since it takes one or more growing seasons for it to fully react and lower the pH. However, since you just fertilized and the new growth looks healthy, I would wait on doing this. To make sure chlorosis is the problem, send photos to this email address.
