a friend in CO sent me home with several irises last week. She told me to let the leaves wither, cut them back and place them in the fridge until fall. The leaves are dying back, but slowly. Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.

Iris can be planted from this point forward without putting them in the fridge. If there is still foliage, cut the fans back to 1/3. Remove any of the dead leaves. Place the rhizomes in prepared soil so that the top is exposed. Iris do not like to be buried.
