I also would like to try growing a Mimosa Tree in my yard here in Peoria IL. I got some seeds from my Trees at our Missouri house. I hope they will grow lol. Do you think it will work since it's not as far as Florida?

Mimosa trees come with a hardiness zone of 6-10. Peoria has a zone of 5a so you may have some success in some years and winter damage in others. Yes, getting seeds from Missouri hopefully you are getting a hardier set of seeds. Ask the question to your local retail gardener centers or a nearby arboretum. It is worth the 2-3 year experiment to find out as long your expectations are not too high.
